My brother is 21, autistic, and the best younger brother anyone could ask for. He deserves all the love this world has to give. It makes me sad to think that he'll probably never find someone who loves him romantically. He definitely deserves that. Unfortunately, he's not really capable of having romantic feelings, and any partner he might have would deserve to receive love too. Where's the balance?

Ok, I'm not a coach, however I do work with the special-needs community as an SLPA.
I think first that it depends on his level on the Spectrum, if he is more high-functioning or Asperger's, as well as if there is a dual/multiple diagnosis, such as ADHD, MMR, Seizure Disorders, sensory issues, etc. Adults with ASD are quite capable of feelings romantically, or any other feelings for that matter, it's just that they have a hard time coping/expressing those feelings based on their level of social skills and Gestalt-level of processing as well as what types of behavioral/speech/OT therapies he is receiving... I understand your feeling of being sad. Providing him with a loving environment whether or not he will have a romantic relationship is the most important thing for him to feel loved and accepted for who he is. Love to you, Stacey |

Agreed. Greg says in this book that you should firstly be able to play solo before playing duet. His problem should be dealt with first.
