Welcome to the quick-and-painless audiobook download process. Most of us have never downloaded an audiobook, so we've tried to make it as easy as possible. After adding an audiobook to your cart, and finishing your shopping, you will be guided through the automated checkout process. You will provide your billing and credit information and confirm your order. After you order is approved you will shown your order confirmation—which contains a link that will immediately take you to your secure download. You will also be sent an electronic confirmation by e-mail.

To start the download simply click on the 'Click here to download' link on your confirmation page or in your confirmation email. Depending on your operating system and browser preferences your download may begin immediately after clicking the link. If it does not begin automatically you will simply have to 'Save' the file to your hard drive when prompted.

When you are asked whether to 'Open' or 'Save' the file, select 'Save' and then choose a location on your hard drive for the download.

Download times

Download times will vary greatly depending on your connection speed. With dialup the download will take several hours, while a broadband connection will usually complete the download in about an hour and half, depending on the size of the audiobook. Continue browsing the free content on RealLove.com while you wait, or just go grab a sandwich. If you experience any problems during the download you'll smply need to begin the process again. You'll have two days to access your audiobook, after which your Software Keycode will be invalid. If something goes wrong, please contact us at support@reallove.com and we will sort out any problems.

Un-zipping your audiobook

To access your audiobook files after downloading you will need to unzip them. Most computers come with some type of zip utility, such as WinZip or StuffIt. If you do not already have one, you can download a free zip utility below. Any un-zip utility will work, but our instructions are written specifically for the programs below. Mac OS X Tiger users do not need a utility to unzip—your operating system will un-zip the audiobook automatically when you double-click on it.

Free Windows zip utility—EasyZip
(Follow the installation wizard. The first time you open EasyZip you will be asked if you want to "Associate EasyZip with .zip files?" Answer 'Yes.')

Free Mac zip utility—StuffIt Expander
(The installation process is very straightforward. Please follow the instructions provided by StuffIt.)

Windows—Un-zip Instructions using EasyZip
You can use any unzip program that you wish. The following instructions, however, are specifically written for EasyZip. If you need help with your zip utility, please refer to your unzip utility's 'Help' option. We are unable to provide detailed instructions for all unzip utilities as the unzip process will not be exactly the same for all programs.

You MUST install EasyZip before following the rest of this tutorial. The first time you open EasyZip you will be asked if you want to Associate EasyZip with .zip files." Answer 'Yes.'

1. Locate your downloaded audiobook on your computer.

2. Double-click the .zip file that contains the audiobook. EasyZip will automatically open if you installed it correctly and answered the associate question with 'Yes.'

3. Click on the 'Extract' icon in the toolbar. A new window will open.

5. Select the 'All files' button on the left side of the new window.

6. Select the location where you want your audiobook to be saved. Remember what you choose so you can find your audiobook later.

7. Click 'Extract.'

8. You're done. The entire audiobook can now be listened to with whatever digital audio program you choose.

Mac OS X
1. If you're using OS X Tiger, all you have to do is double-click the zip file. You're done.

2. Or, to use Stuffit Expander, open the application and drag and drop your zip file to the StuffIt window. You're done.

We encourage you to save your audiobook to your hard drive and to create a backup copy on CD.

Virtually every computer on the planet comes with pre-installed software that will enable you to listen to an MP3. If you don't have a program capable of playing an MP3 you can download one by following the instructions below. Even if you DO have a program for MP3s, we encourage you to download and use iTunes for your audiobooks. It's exceptionally easy to use because it has features specifically for audiobooks, and we've provided instructions and tutorials to make it even easier.

Q:  I'm having trouble getting my MP3 software to work. Where can I find help?
A:  Due to time constraints, our support staff does not offer support for any of the software that you will use to listen to your audiobooks. If you are having trouble with your current software, try iTunes. It's straightforward and works on all common operating systems. Q:  Can I burn my audiobook to a CD?
A:  Yes. Copyright laws provide that you can make a copy of your download for personal use. In other words, you can’t make copies of your audiobook for other people—like friends and family. Click here for an easy-to-follow tutorial that teaches you how to burn a CD using iTunes.

Q:  Are there limitations on how many times I can listen to my download?
A:  No. You can use and listen to your audiobook as often as you like. Listen to it in the car, at home, at work, in the shower, on your iPod, or on your computer. You bought it, and just like when you purchase a CD, you can use it however you want. Just remember that it is illegal to give away copies of your audiobook.

Q:  I bought a membership package a few weeks ago and after downloading the audioobook, my computer crashed. I want to download my audiobook again. Is my password still valid?
A:  No. Your password is only valid for about 48 hours. Under special circumstances, however, we will issue you a temporary password so that you can recover your lost audiobook. Contact us at support@reallove.com for assistance.
